GP Training and Teaching
We are approved by the London Deanery for specialist training in General Practice and have a number of specialist trainees working within the practice at any one time. Trainees are fully qualified doctors who have completed a number of years working as hospital doctors. Specialist trainees usually spend a minimum of 12 months attached to the practice.
Foundation Year Two doctors are fully qualified doctors undergoing part of their post qualification general training. They are attached to the practice and are supervised by one of the senior doctors at the practice.
From time to time another doctor may sit in with the specialist trainee as an observer for educational purposes.
The Hampstead Group Practice is a University Linked Practice working mainly with UCL Medical School. This means we regularly have medical students as part of their studies. Students sometimes sit in with doctors or other members of staff to observe and take part in consultations.
If a medical student is with your doctor you will be informed. We very much hope you will participate in the student teaching programme but understand that on some occasions you would rather not have a student present – please let us know if that is what you would prefer.
